Candle Care & Safety
As a candle enthusiast, you understand the joy and relaxation that comes from lighting a beautiful candle and basking in its warm glow. Candles have been used for centuries to create ambiance, set the mood and even for spiritual practices. In this guide, we'll provide you with expert tips and recommendations to help you make the most of your candle experience in a safe environment.
High-Quality Candles
When it comes to candles, quality matters. Our candles are made from high-quality materials such as soy and coconut & rapeseed wax. We test our candles for the best wick fit and correct percentage of fragrance oil to use to ensure the cleanest burn, to minimise the soot created and maximise the burn time.
Practice Candle Safety
Candle safety should always be a top priority. Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep them away from flammable objects, such as curtains or paper. If purchasing one of our candles that does not come in a container/spice jar or tea light container (e.g. a sculptured candle), always place the candle on a heat-resistant tray that will capture any melting wax that 'spills' while the candle is being burned.
First Burn
The first time you are lighting your candle, it's helpful to burn for at least an hour (depending on candle size) to create the widest melt pool possible. Candles have a 'memory' so to speak so if you don't maximise the melt pool size during the first burn, all subsequent burns usually create a 'tunnelling' effect and all the wonderful scented wax that remains will go to waste.
Maximum Burn Time
Depending on the candle size and width, best practice is to not burn a candle for longer than 4 hours.
Wick Care
For best results trim the wick to 5mm before each use to prevent excessive smoke and soot.
